When selecting our sourdough bread we had a few key requirements starting with a beautiful crust to die for and a moist crumb, not over-proved, a good rise, just sour enough, pure bread-lovers heaven. Drumroll please… Welcome The Midwife and the Baker as our first sourdough bread offering. One of the Bay Area’s best kept secrets, this bread is one of the best being baked out there right now. Half the flour in this bread is whole grain and milled-in house (yes you read it right), with a rich crispy crust and a cannelle tender interior. Unlike other breads that are often 10% wholewheat, we wanted a bread that had whole wheat heartiness but performed like a good white bread. Enjoy it our sourdough lovers!

Ingredients
You guessed it, this duo are one Midwife, Jaime and one Baker, Mac. Two of the oldest professions in the world. These two relish working with their hands. Mac lives and breaths bread and graduated from The San Francisco Baking Institute. Mac says “It's simple. I like taking the whole berry, grinding it, fermenting it, and turning it into a highly digestible, beautiful bread." Based in Mountain View, California, Zero is bringing these breads to the Bay Area and beyond.

How does the Zero system work?

Zero couldn’t be easier! Buy a subscription for $25 a month and get to shopping. Select in our online store at zeroshop.co which items you want as weekly refills. Checkout online for those items, a full size of each (e.g. sugar is 16oz). Each week our milkwomen will come by, enter your home and refill your groceries with our trusted carts, live in your kitchen! You will only get charged for what we dispense.

How do I checkout for my first grocery shop?

Once you have purchased subscription at zeroshop.co, you can place your first grocery order. By purchasing, you are signalling what you require as weekly refills. We will then come by every week and refill those items.

How do you know what to refill?

We always fill a jar right back up to the top. If sugar is 16oz, and only 1oz has been used, we will refill 1oz and charge you for 1oz of sugar. Likewise, if you used all 16oz, we will refill all 16oz, right back to the top.
